In addition, a $3,000 (PIP) Personal Injury Protection Payment must be made immediately by the insurance company because Utah is a no fault liability state. Insurance companies are required to give the department details of all car insurance policies issued and all car insurance policies renewed and the department maintains a database of insured vehicles to detect offences by uninsured drivers. Insurance companies are allowed to check the credit background of their customer to ascertain whether the customer is a high risk payment defaulter.
